Rear view belvedere
Beauty lingers longer than the remnants
It haunts the eye and breath of those who rest decayed
Their bones a puzzle
Their minds a veil
And yet we still look back to look the same.
Our comparative forms supplanting all
The sounds of rattled errs in brittle throats
Hoping through gouging eyes
To throw a glance behind
Where better lies.
Caretakers of a landscape
With eye floaters for clouds
Where grass is always greener
At least the green you know.
There is no greater fear
Than, in the change of a portrait,
To lose the one you loved.
I’ll stick to what I’ve always done.
Progress is never joy
Like a dog outrunning its tail
Convincing itself
The bite doesn’t hurt.
Eat the Sun
For some sunflowers strive at night,
In stargazing.
